Strawberry Shortcake Sweetness

What does Strawberry Shortcake have to do with Christmas and the holiday season? For anyone with little girls in their family, the answer is clear. Strawberry Shortcake is a really great Christmas gift and the options for gift choices seem to have no limit.

When my stepdaughter was two, her passion was Strawberry Shortcake. It was a strange transition for me because I was used to how Strawberry Shortcake looked when I was little, and I had a clear memory of all the little cartoon shows. I managed, though, because parents have to go with the flow when it comes to the changing of the times.

My stepdaughter is eight now and, despite the fact that she doesn’t play with the toys anymore, she still loves the activity books, storybooks, games and some of the decorations. Here are some great gift ideas for the special little girl in your life. Beyond the gift giving aspect of Strawberry Shortcake, there are a plethora of other ideas that can be incorporated into the holiday season using Strawberry Shortcake.

Here are some examples:

  • Printable invitations for a Strawberry Shortcake themed tea party.

  • eCard exchanges with friends using Strawberry Shortcake themes, letting them know your little girl is thinking about them, wishing them well, or planning an event.

  • Strawberry Shortcake themed games and activities: these games are so much fun and there’s even a Strawberry Shortcake themed Play Doh tea set.

  • If you’re the type of family that either home schools or does additional practice work beyond the regular school curriculum, there are excellent Strawberry Shortcake printables available that are fun and enriching.

When I was little, I enjoyed creating crafts with a Strawberry Shortcake theme with my mom for our Christmas tree. One of these crafts was what was called “Make-it Bake-it.” We filled these metal shapes with colored crystals following a color pattern given with the kit. It was very tedious and we found ourselves making corrections with tweezers throughout the entire process. It was great quality time though, and we talked about anything and everything throughout the process. To this day, I still have my Strawberry Shortcake Christmas ornaments hung on my tree.

We also made plush ornaments of Strawberry Shortcake and all her friends using a quilting type material we cut from a large piece. They looked like stencil patterns and it was as simple as cutting along the dotted line, doing a simple zigzag stitch by hand, and filling them up with fiber fill. These particular ornaments are still on my mother’s tree.

As you can see, there are a lot of opportunities to incorporate Strawberry Shortcake into the holiday season beyond just giving a gift. There are opportunities for playing, opportunities for hosting parties, and opportunities for making a lot of memories.

Which craft project will your little girl hold on to? How long will your little girl cherish a game you’ve played together? Which holiday event will stand out most in her mind? Will she frame that Strawberry Shortcake beach towel as a decoration in her own little girl’s room? You never know!
