I’m on a soapbox today. People Magazine is reporting that the Jon & Kate Plus 8 couple might be splitting up. That’s the couple with the reality TV series about raising eight little kids. I’m not a fan of the show, but my daughter is, so I’ve watched it with her a few times. It’s probably all in the editing, but Kate always comes off as irritable and unreasonable, and the celebrity rags have been shouting about Jon having an affair with a 23-year-old. It’s none of our business, really, and who knows what the real skinny is. But I can’t say that I ... Read Full Story

The problem is it’s 590 miles from here. It’s like driving from Boston to West Virginia.  Some people realize that El Paso is on the border of Mexico and New Mexico, so they often ask ... A week or so before Christmas, Paula sent me a box of Sea-Monkeys . Having read my original post about how my parents wouldn’t let me have them when I was kid , she knew how much I’ve always wanted them. Tonight we finally started on them . . .   Me: Are you afraid at all? Are you scared of these Sea-Monkeys? Buck: I’m just worried about what will happen when we go to sleep. Me: You mean what they’ll do at night? Buck: Yeah. I just don’t know if they’ll stop breeding. Ever. The idea of having cartoon creatures out here doing ... Read Full Story
