A community portal about Sufism with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: Sufism is a mystic tradition of Islam encompassing a diverse range of beliefs and practices dedicated to Allah/God, divine love and sometimes to help a fellow man. Tariqas may be associated with Shi'a Islam, Sunni Islam, other currents of Islam, or a combination of multiple traditions. It has been suggested that Sufi thought emerged from the Middle East in the eighth century, but adherents are now found around the world. Some Sufis have also claimed that Sufism pre-dates Islam and some groups operate with only very tenuous links to Islam.

Hello Friends, I have always believed in the unity of the various spiritual paths. Outwardly there methods and approaches may differ due to the time, place, people and conditions present but beyond externals there is at the core this relationship between the beloved and Lover, between the seeker and what he is seeking. I was exposed to yoga in some way shape or form from an early age especially through the works of Paramahansa Yogananda. The lofty Sanathana Dharma of Vedic philosophy of ancient India is based on intuitional perceptions of the transcendental Reality. Buddhism, with its various methods of controlling the mind and ... By Golnaz Esfandiari Lawyer Farshid Yadollahi was 18 years old when he had a spiritual dream that led him on a search for the truth and resulted in his becoming a Sufi. Seventeen years later, Yadollahi says that whatever he might say about his dream would belittle it. "It's not describable and it's not understandable for the outer world," he says. "It's like if someone says, 'Molecules are made of atoms, now show me the atoms.' Would that be possible? No. It's the same with Sufism; it's because of it that [Sufi poet] Hafez says, 'Alas! One cannot discuss dervish principles. Otherwise, I would ... Read Full Story

Image via Wikipedia I was just speaking to a friend on SU about the film Bab’Aziz and said how I feel the mystic tradition of all religions comes very close to the core reality of being. For me it is the Sufi path but I also find inspiration from the Kabbalah and Mahayyana Buddhism. Finally we are all one, diverse expressions of the One Being. I’m doing research at the moment on the connections between Sufi and Jewish mystics and the rising popularity of Sufism in Israel. I’ll be going there for a field study next year as I want to see to what ... Read Full Story
