Zimbio Exclusive Song Premiere: East of Eli's 'The Silent Kind'

(Dean Zulich Photography)East of Eli is the musical project of Nathan West, an actor, producer, and musician perhaps best known for portraying Jan in the teen classic Bring It On. In addition to his work in film and television, West has honed his strengths as a singer-songwriter, drawing from influences as diverse as Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, and Otis Redding to create his warm and honest tunes.

In anticipation of the release of East of Eli's debut EP Nothing Ordinary on March 30, we're happy to premiere his new track "The Silent Kind," a sweet, earnest song inspired by the city in a moment of quiet beauty.

"One unusually still night, wandering the streets in lower Manhattan, is all it took to be inspired to write this song," West tells us. "I wish I could take credit for it, but the city that night spoke for herself. I just captured the conversation and delicately put those words to melody."

West will be bringing the Nothing Ordinary experience to both Los Angeles and New York in the coming weeks. Check the dates below, and listen to his title track at American Songwriter.

March 21 - House of Blues, LA
March 26 - Rockwood Music Hall, NY
March 30 - Chez Andre, NY
April 25 - Soho House, NY
