A community portal about Superman Returns with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: Superman Returns is a 2006 superhero film based on the fictional DC Comics character Superman. It was directed by Bryan Singer and stars Brandon Routh, Kate Bosworth and Kevin Spacey. The screenplay was written by Michael Dougherty & Dan Harris, based on a story by Bryan Singer, Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty.
DIRECTOR Bryan Singer, whose wartime thriller Valkyrie has just been released, says he now plans to take a break before deciding on his next project.
There's been no mention of Singer working on a Superman follow-up film and his planned Logan's Run remake seems to be sitting on the shelf gathering dust.
Asked what he was doing next, he told the Los Angeles Times : "At the moment, I haven't decided. I really don't know. I'm taking a genuine break. The last four years have been really... Read Full Story
ACTOR Tom Welling is emerging as a strong favourite to play Superman in the next movie.
Welling, 31, plays the teenage Clark Kent in long-running TV show Smallville about the early years of the superhero. The show is about to enter its eighth - and possibly final - season.
The late actor Christopher Reeve, who played what many see as the definitive Superman in the earlier movie series, said Welling would be ideal to play the part on the big screen.
Several new petitions are... Read Full Story
IS IT a bird, is it a plane - and more importantly is it a sequel, a prequel, a requel, a reboot, a re-Routh or some other concept?
Right now the Man of Steel is gently rusting on the shelf at Warner Bros, with no official announcement of what's happening next.
But there are reports that Brandon Routh will return to reprise the role of Clark Kent and Superman, even if the next film is unrelated to Superman Returns.
Bryan Singer's 2006 movie fell below studio expectations and... Read Full Story
ACTOR Brandon Routh, who played Superman in Bryan Singer's 2006 film, says the hero should not be given the brooding intensity of The Dark Knight in his next big-screen appearance.
Recently, actor James Marsden, who played Lois Lane's new partner in Superman Returns, had said that Superman needed to be edgy and dark to succeed, while Warner Bros Pictures Group President Jeff Robinov revealed the upcoming comic-book movie slate is "going to try to go dark to the extent that the characters... IT could well be 2012 before we see Superman on the big screen again - and we're no nearer to knowing who will be chosen for the lead role.
As my poll on The Geek Files indicated in no uncertain terms, there is strong support for Tom Welling who plays the teenage Clark Kent in Smallville.
It seems unlikely though that Welling would play the lead in Warner Bros proposed restart of the Superman franchise as, by definition, a reboot won't be linked to any previous incarnations of the... Read Full Story
THE actor who played Lois Lane's new partner Richard White in Bryan Singer's 2006 movie Superman Returns admits the character needs to be remagined for modern audiences.
James Marsden, who also played eye-blasting mutant Cyclops in the X-Men movies, said today's viewers don't relate to the classic movie version of Superman.
And that's why Singer's 2006 Superman didn't fly. Brandon Routh's caped Kryptonian - although portrayed as a flawed and anguished character - was ultimately too... Read Full Story
A TRIO of comicbook writers have joined the endless debate on what was wrong with Bryan Singer's 2006 movie Superman Returns.
The arguments over the movie are still raging online, two years after the film's release. In a polarised fanbase, some say the movie was a wonderful piece of art that was refreshingly different to the usual action-movie formula; others say it was a terrible effort that lacked action, was full of mischaracterisation and ended up being a tribute to Richard... IN THE long wait for an official announcement from Warner Bros on the proposed Superman sequel Man of Steel, some fans are determined to keep director Bryan Singer (pictured above) and lead actor Brandon Routh from returning for a further movie.
Singer's 2006 film Superman Returns caused the biggest division in the online fan community that I've ever seen for a superhero movie. And a petition at the Save Superman website, from fans who disliked Singer's vision, is appealing to studio... Read Full Story
THOSE who enjoyed Brandon Routh's performance in Bryan Singer's Superman Returns were no doubt looking forward to his next role in The Informers.
But the actor can wave goodbye to that role. In what you might call a Routh-less piece of editing, his character and plot has been totally excised from the movie because of worries over sex, violence and budgeting.
The film is based on the collection of short stories by Brett Easton Ellis about a sleazy, amoral underworld in 1983 Los Angeles... Read Full Story
NEVER mind the battle between Barack Obama and John McCain in the USA presidential campaign, the superhero world has its own politics and lobbying going on.
Now that Warner Bros says the next Superman movie will be a reboot, it's left a power vacuum for a new actor and director to step in.
The Superman Returns crew - director Bryan Singer and actor Brandon Routh - are out of the running if the next movie is a fresh start.
Online, there has a growing campaign for Smallville actor... Read Full Story
