A group of surfboard shapers will be honored at the 10th annual International Surfboard Builders Hall of Fame at 10 a.m. Dec. 5 at Doheny State Beach.
This years inductees include Barry Bennett, Barry Kanaiaupuni, Phil Becker, Bob “Ole” Olson, Mike Doyle, and Huntington Beach’s own Delbert “Bud” Higgins.

In San Clemente, a start-up company called Green Foam Blanks is out to change a half-century of surfboard-making tradition. Its founders, Joey Santley and Steve Cox, have created what is thought to be the world's first recycled polyurethane blank -- the foam core of a surfboard.

Since moving to LA from NYC last year I thought I'd be doing a lot more surfing. It hasn't worked out like that. As soon as the water got warm the waves went flat. I guess that's par for the course in Southern California.
