Susan Boyle forced to pull out of Britain’s Got Talent shows as doctors say she must rest

Susan Boyle pulled out of the Britain’s Got Talent road show last night after being told to rest by doctors.

The Scottish singer had performed in three shows over two days but did not take part in the Manchester leg of the national tour - to the dismay of fans.

It has yet to be decided if she will be well enough for tonight’s show in Glasgow but it is hoped she will be on stage in Edinburgh tomorrow.

Just two weeks ago the 48-year-old checked into a private clinic suffering from exhaustion. Family members said she was having difficulty coping with the immense pressure and public interest in her.

Fans in Manchester last night said they were disappointed but wished her a speedy recovery.

Rosie Hinchcliffe, 44, from Preston, who was with her daughter Maddie, 14, said: ‘It’s disappointing, but it’s not the end of the world. I’m sure the rest of the show will be brilliant.

‘Everyone knows she’s had her problems and they have got a lot of shows to do. We won’t be asking for our money back. I just hope she’s OK. I hope the people running this get her whatever help she needs.’

Miss Boyle’s withdrawal came after speculation she could charge up to £8,000 a minute to perform live when she has fulfilled her obligations to the show.

The star is said to have been booked by corporate clients for as much as £100,000 per 12-minute set.

The concerts will quickly add to the £8million fortune the singer is set to amass after signing a recording contract with BGT Simon Cowell.

A source close to the Scottish spinster told the News of the World: ‘She’s the biggest star to have come out of Britain’s Got Talent, so her price to sing reflects that.

‘These fees mean it will take 10 dates for her to make a million pounds, which is unprecedented for a reality show winner.’ source daily mail
