A federal judge in Massachusetts has dismissed a lawsuit accusing television personality Elisabeth Hasselbeck of plagiarism. A federal lawsuit accused the co-host of ABC's "The View" of lifting content from a book written by self-published Cape Cod author Susan Hassett on the digestive disorder celiac disease. Hasselbeck's book was called "The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide" and appeared on best-seller lists this year. U.S. District Judge Joseph Tauro dismissed the lawsuit last... Awkward! "The View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck blundered yesterday when she asked "The Lovely Bones" star Stanley Tucci if his wife had seen the movie. Tucci's wife, Kate, died last May. To be fair, Hasselbeck asked about her after Tucci said, "I had not read the book. My wife had read the book and . . . the first thing she said was, 'You can't do that.' She might have been right. I don't know." Tucci plays a child murderer in the movie. Hasselbeck asked. "Has she seen any parts of it... Read Full Story
Elisabeth Hasselbeck likely thought she was home-free when the judge in her copyright lawsuit threw out the case . But even at the time, he noted that it was only because plaintiff Susan Hassett’s (author of “Living with Celiac Disease”) lawyer hadn’t turned in required paperwork, thus he was dismissing it on a technicality. The judge also noted that , “while portions of Hassett’s dietary prose were definitely lifted for Hasselbeck’s book, the passages weren’t significant enough to warrant... Read Full Story

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is off the hook in a plagiarism lawsuit regarding her best-selling gluten-free diet book, “The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide.” But it isn’t because she didn’t plagiarize it. It’s simply because the lawyer for opposing party, author Susan Hassett (who wrote “Living with Celiac Disease,” and sent Hasselbeck a copy long before Hasselbeck wrote her book) didn’t file necessary paperwork on time, thus the judge threw out the case. But he also noted that parts of... Read Full Story
Elisabeth Hasselbeck may be a lot of things, but a rip-off artiste isn't one of them. A plagiarism lawsuit brought against The View 's token conservative was dismissed last week after her accuser's attorney declined to pursue the case. The woman behind the initial court action was Susan Hassett, a self-published author who claims that Hasselbeck's recently released bestseller, The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide , lifted significant passages from Hassett's own book on celiac...
