Rich Helping Poor? Dream On Bill Gates

For the record, Bill Gates is one rich bastard that I don't mind. You don't see him ballooning around the world or racing his yacht around Cape Horn, he is a billionaire in the mold of Warren Buffett - and I can live with that kind of rich guy.

That being said, Bill Gates has a plan to help the poor called Creative Capitalism that could reverse the ever-widening gap between the world's rich and poor. However how many rich CEO's are of a like mind with Gates? And how many will be willing to let some of that wealth trickle down to the rest of us? I'm betting not many.

It seems to me here at the bottom of the economic pyramid that there are many more Larry Ellison's of the world than Bill Gates'. You know the guys who buy a house the size of a small country and never live in it. Meanwhile Gates is planning to give most of his fortune up instead of making his kids into American Nobility. Ellison gives about 1% of his wealth to charities, which looks good on paper but does not do much to help people living on the streets. And what about the not-so-well known rich people out there, who are not in the public spotlight, are they going to participate in Creative Capitalism? Something tells me that they won't.

Bill Gates has a noble idea that could do some real good if he wasn't the only one with money that wants to do it. To me it will take a complete paradigm shift among America's upper class to see that it is their duty to help their fellow man. Some of these assholes still believe that they are self-made, when daddy gave them a good position in his company, or his Fraternity connections put his resume at the top of the stack.

Good luck in your endeavor Bill Gates, You're gonna need it!
