I am a big fan of the movie musical. I always have been. From the Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly films, to the greats musicals from the 1950s and 1960s like The King and I and The Sound of Music . Deny it all you want, but deep down inside everyone loves musical theater. Everyone has at least one show where they’ve memorized all the songs, they find themselves humming the songs in the shower, they keep hidden in some deep pocket of their iPod. He ain't no Johnny Depp to look at, but he sure can sing. He's also a really good actor. I'm talking about Merritt David Janes , the guy with the straight razor in the picture. Merritt starred as Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, last week when the Broadway show came to the State Theatre in Easton. This is some of the stuff that I have researched for my collection. I had to hit the ground running so I picked Sweeney Todd. I found a lot of paintings from the Victorian Era, Colleen Atwood's sketches for the movie costumes, photos of period reproductions and movie photo stills.
