Kellogg Co. says it will pull immunity claims from its Rice Krispies and Cocoa Krispies cereal boxes amid the public's growing concern about swine flu. Kellogg began adding extra antioxidants to its cereal last year, which it says help support the immune system. The company began advertising the change with large labels on cereal boxes that read in bold letters: "Now helps support your child's immunity." But the food maker said Wednesday that given the public attention to swine flu, it has decided to phase out the message from its packages. The swine flu virus has been confirmed in a cat treated at the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Officials said Wednesday it's the first known case of the virus to be diagnosed in a cat. Veterinarians say the virus has also been confirmed in two ferrets, one in Oregon and the other in Nebraska. The 13-year-old cat was treated in Ames, Iowa, and is recovering. The veterinarian who treated the cat, Dr. Brett Sponseller, says two of the three people in the same house had flu-like symptoms before the cat became ill. A girl has died in Austria of swine flu, becoming the country's first recorded fatality. The Austria Press Agency reports the 11-year-old from Italy's German-speaking South Tyrol region died Monday in a hospital in the western city of Innsbruck. She had been in intensive care for days. Austrian Health Minister Alois Stoeger expressed his condolences to the girl's family and stressed that the Alpine republic was well prepared to deal with the disease.
