The CW has rescued both Nikita and freshman drama The Carrie Diaries from the jaws of almost-cancellation.
The network gave renewed Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries for a second season, and gave Nikita a shortened fourth season order. It's unclear exactly how many episodes Nikita will get, with sources reporting between six and 10.
With only 1.3 million average viewers and a 0.5 rating in the coveted 18-49 demo, Nikita holds the dubious honor of being the lowest rated series to receive a renewal order this year. But cast member Shane West promises that the spy drama will definitely wrap things up in style:
The Carrie Diaries and Nikita join previously renewed CW series The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Arrow, Hart of Dixie, and Beauty and the Beast.
