First Official 'Stranger Things' Season 3 Trailer Previews A Teenage Wasteland
Things are about to get super dark.
If you're ready to return to Hawkins, Indiana, raise your hand. Last summer, we enjoyed our first look at the Starcourt Mall, and were later blessed with all ten episode titles for the highly-anticipated Season 3 of Stranger Things. Now, the official trailer wait is finally over. Season 3 is set to hit Netflix on July 4. Enjoy:
The new trailer teases a summer of growing pains — teenage growing pains, that is. Hey, you didn't think the Hawkins gang was going to stay young forever, right? In the clip, conveniently set to the Who's "Baba O'Riley," we get all the notalgic vibes associated with coming-of-age films and TV shows: fun, lazy days at the swimming pool, a retro-cool mall, ice cream, adventurous group hikes, and... a new evil demogorgon?
Regarding Season 3's big bad, executive producer Shawn Levy recently explained to Variety, "The first two seasons were very much school-based. This is that time of year where it's not about school, it's about the swimming pool and campfires and parades and Fourth of July and fireworks, so there's kind of a poppy fun to Season 3 that's really enjoyable before things inevitably turn super dark."
And the Season 3 trailer turns super dark indeed. I mean, that demogorgon menacing the halls of what looks like Hawkins High looks like it's up to no good. We'll see how the gang handles this one.
