Bored to Death 1:6

Johnathan is enlisted to track down a woman who is blackmailing this guy who slept with her.  He’s married, and the woman is going to give their sex tape to his wife if he doesn’t start paying her weekly.  Or maybe it’s monthly.  I can’t remember.  Because during their meeting, he shows Johnathan a picture of the woman, who immediately comments that she has a beautiful body, and this really bothered me.  It stuck with me for the whole episode.  I think this is just another example of this being a show for men.  I can’t even say why this comment bothered me so much, it just did.  I just became an old lady, didn’t I?

Once again, I was kind of bored with everything not George.  I loved his comment about how over the years, people he knows either die or press on – he falls into the pressing on category.

There is also this gigantic picture of him in his office.  Facing his desk.  I adore it.  Reminds me of Stephen Colbert.

Johnathan finally tells George that he’s got a second job as a private investigator.  It’s later explained that it’s illegal and insane.  Prior to breaking the news to George, they have this exchange:

Johnathan: Do you really want to know the truth?

George: Yes.  As long as it’s not boring.

I’m totally going to start saying that.  I think it’s hilarious!

I just don’t have much else to say about this episode.  Only two left.  Too bad they don’t do an entire tv series about George, he’s way funnier than the rest of the characters.
