Well, the last two days were exciting, weren't they? Two legitimate end-of-the-'pen options coming in. Sure, they're 38 and 39, but Billy Wagner and Takashi Saito's track records indicate that they know what they're doing. Wagner is sitting just a few saves short of 400 with 1,092 career Ks. The Braves made another move to strengthen their pitching staff Thursday, agreeing to a $3.2 million, one-year contract with reliever Takashi Saito. Saito, who turns 40 in February, has 83 saves in four major league seasons after a long career in Japan. He made the NL All-Star team in 2007, when he had 39 saves for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Cubs interested in Saito? (h/t mlbtr) Reportedly, Cubs are showing interest in Takashi Saito. I'd be very pleased with such an addition. He was still effective enough last year. Yes, the FIP was fairly high, and he's getting older, but I don't recall reports of his stuff dropping considerably (his velocity stayed about the same). At the very least, it would provide another option to Guzman/Grabow as setup men, a combination that worries...
