The San Francisco 49ers announced today the re-signing of LB Takeo Spikes and signing of veteran QB Damon Huard. Terms of the contracts were not announced.
Spikes (6-2, 242) enters his 12th NFL season after originally being drafted in the first round (13th pick overall) of the 1998 Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals out of Auburn. A two-time Pro Bowler (2003-04) and one-time All-Pro... Read Full Story
The Niners today lost out on QB Kurt Warner, as he went back to the Cardinals, but they did get back linebacker Takeo Spikes, and also signed former Chiefs QB Damon Huard.
Spikes gets a two-year deal that is worth $6 million to come back for a second season with the Niners. He joined the team in the preseason last year. The 11-year pro had a solid first year, putting up 96 tackles and making three interceptions. “Everybody can see that we’re right on the edge of something special,” Spikes... Read Full Story

So Takeo Spikes gets cut, clearing $5 million in cap room. Is the other shoe about to drop?

He made a lot of nice goaline plays last year, but like the rest of the defense he could not catch an INT. Spikes injury history and age had a lot to do with it, but I believe this move more then anything shows that the coaches are very impressed with... Read Full Story
