Getting Home Safely in a Taxi

Ace Taxis a long established taxi company based in Camberley England, issued some useful advice for its customers and the public in general. In an effort to reassure people after a rise in adverse publicity in the media recently which they felt had caused some concerns.

There has been a continuing increase in un-licensed taxis and or minicabs throughout the uk. These vehicles are usually uninsured they have been found with no valid documents like mots or up to date road tax and often not in a road worthy condition.  They are unregulated and the drivers work outside the law. It is common that they do not know the local area and you could find yourself lost on the way to a destination.  So a journey from one side of town to the other could become your worst nightmare!  The public has also been concerned over the recent arrest, of a taxi driver in London, charged with the rape and assault of several female passengers. He had picked up his victims in the centre of London.

Firstly always use a licensed taxi company and taxi. They have been vetted by a local authority to insure the vehicle complies with safety regulations, they are insured and the all the drivers have been police checked. Make sure the vehicle you are getting into is displaying an up to date taxi or private hire plate; make a note of its number. A good idea is to ask the driver how long your journey will take and send a simple text message to home or a friend “in a taxi number 12345 be home in 5 mins” Driver should also all have a valid photo ID badge issued by a local authority this should always be on display look for it and make sure. Take just a few moments of you time   its well worth the effort!
