The event was put together by Ettore Diana, an Italian barkeep who has a penchant for whipping up ridiculously huge drinks. In 1989, he made the world's largest cocktail, a stomach-churning 3,000 liter mixture of vodka, champagne, and fruit puree. In 1990, he combined 248.3 liters of coffee, or about 8,277 normal-sized cups, to make the world's largest cup of coffee. In 1993 he made the world's largest cup of non-herbal tea, which measured up to 2,000 liters.
So basically, when this guy sees a 64 oz. Big Gulp at a 7-Eleven, he's like, "Yeah, that's big, I guess, but really it should be about 64,000 ounces. I'll get started right away."
