It’s good to know that the days of investigative journalism aren’t quite over, yet, in New Zealand. The Dom post has used the Official Information Act to find out how many school staff received ACC funded treatment following an assault at school and put that together with Ministry of Education figures for 2008, to reveal that at least 777 teachers were assaulted whilst at work during 2008/9 ( that’s without the figures for non-treatment assaults in 2009): “Hundreds of teachers have received ACC-funded treatment after being assaulted at school. Paraphrasing remains a critical skill in academic classrooms and in the larger world. The ability to re-phrase and re-state, usually called paraphrasing, allows students to confirm information, accurately convey information, and avoid plagiarism problems in writing papers. Paraphrasing, usually quite emphasized in ESL and EFL writing classes, deserves some attention in conversation class too. 1992 was a strange period of anxiety tension and stress for all South Africans especially Black folks. Many English teachers nowadays choose to work in language schools. Better money, students who are there only for your lessons, no other distractions during those 100 minutes (time may vary from school to school)... Moreover, these schools have wonderful resources: multimedia centres, online exercises, interactive boards... basically EVERYTHING that every learner would die for, although most of the times they won't even have time to use!
