Team Katusha is a Russian cycling team competing in the Tour de France on Ridley bikes. Katusha was founded for the start of the 2009 season, out of the former Tinkoff Credit Systems squad. It is organized by the Russian Global Cycling Project foundation, which itself is funded by Russian businesses such as Gazprom, Itera and Rostechnologii.
The team was launched with a large budget "in excess of Euro 15 million", and immediately set about signing big name cyclists such as Robbie McEwen, Vladimir Karpets, Filippo Pozzato and Gert Steegmans. The team first raced at the 2009 Tour Down Under.
Robbie McEwen, Danilo Napolitano and Filippo Pozzato will act as leaders of the Katusha squad for 2010. The team will go into 2010 with 29 riders. For the full story, go to http://www.bikeworldnews.com

The one exception is Fillipo Pozzato who rides a Damocles PI because he requires a "very long top tube," according to Ridley. Those riders lucky enough to be current national champions, Pozzato ...

Now the all-rounder is hoping to finally get to race in France next July after his move from Caisse d’Epargne to Katusha.
Rodríguez is firming up his racing schedule with the Russian-backed team and it’s all but sure he’ll finally get a shot at the Tour.

Interesting team, that Katusha and an interesting pick-up on their part, picking Joaquin Rodriguez from Caisse d'Epargne. For CN today comes word on the race schedule for J-Rod next year and it's much like in previous years, with two exceptions: there's Tour de France for the first time and there's no Alejandro Valverde to support. Here's his early season (up to the Tour) schedule:

Because the links below lead to a couple of photos, and more gut wrenchingly three videos, from his latest operation. But you've been warned. Don't start complaining...
Ben Swift (Katusha) took a hugely popular first professional win in Friday's seventh stage to become the first British stage winner in the Tour of Britain since Paul Manning in 2007.
The Katusha rider sprinted to victory ahead of teammate Filippo Pozzato, with race leader Edvald Boasson Hagen (Columbia-HTC) in third. Boasson Hagen extended his overall lead ahead of Rabobank’s Kai Reus to 23 seconds and retained points jersey.
