LONDON: Alberto Contador’s Saxo Bank–Sungard team could be thrown out of cycling’s World Tour after the Spaniard was given a two–year doping ban by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the International Cycling Union (UCI) said on Friday.

The UCI’s Professional Cycling Council met in Geneva, Switzerland over the past two days. Much of their discussion hinged on the addition of a new Pro Tour event in China along with date changes for some other events such as the Tour de Pologne.
