Teemu Selanne

Even though he won’t be returning to the Ducks lineup for several more weeks, Teemu Selanne has been a welcome sight at Ducks practices. The right winger is maintaining his conditioning and even testing out his wrist shot despite a broken left hand. Correspondent Tanya Lyon caught up with the Finnish Flash and filed this report. Finnish hockey star Teemu Selanne underwent left hand surgery on Friday that will sideline the 39-year-old Anaheim Ducks winger for four to six weeks of the National Hockey League season. Selanne suffered a broken bone in the hand Thursday night in a loss to the Dallas Stars when struck by a shot from Dallas defenseman Karlis Skrastins. X-rays showed a break near the knuckle below Selanne's middle finger. Selanne, nicknamed the "Finnish Flash" in his heyday, has scored 14 goals in 27 games so far this seaosn, giving him a total of 593 goals and 640 assists in 1,159 career NHL regular-season games.
