My husband is a huge telemark skiier. Wait, that sounds bad - see him above - he isn't HUGE, he is big into telemark skiing. I can ski, you know, regular ski. La Guêpe Ride is an annual event held in La Clusaz which sounds a lot like Gay Pride to French people. Apparently, this is another one of their plays on words, but nobody really understands why, since the event is a telemark ski weekend! On Sunday afternoon, as I picked a wide line through the woods between the Goat trail and the Nosedive trail on Mt. Mansfield, I marveled at the amount of woods available for skiing in Stowe. Well, today we hit the high 80s mark on the thermometer. That means the spring snowpack is going to melt out really fast again this spring. Seems to be happening more and more: we get a good snow pack built up in March and April to only have it melt out by the end of May. There was 22cm of fresh snow overnight, and Patrol was being very cautious and bombed just about everything. I counted at least 5 bombs on the ridge above Excitation. This was the last one to go off.
