PITTSBURGH, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., Wednesday revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer following a mammogram.  

Teresa Heinz Kerry, the wife of the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee, Sen. John Kerry, announced Wednesday that she's being treated for breast cancer.  

Currently undergoing breast cancer treatment, Heinz lashed out against the recommendations: "Chemotherapy is serious. It also costs a lot of money. ... why put people through that instead of just having a test that's done, and it's done?" [CBS]  

Teresa Heinz says she is being treated for breast cancer discovered through mammography and argues that younger women should continue undergoing the tests despite a federal panel's recent recommendation to reduce their frequency.
