The Trans-Texas Corridor: Governor Perry LOVES it. Judging from his comments, a President Obama would support it.....and it's a BAD Idea! If approved, it will be one, if not THE most outrageous private-property steals in the history of America. And that's just for starters. Below is a detailed explanation about what, and more importantly, HOW you can try to stop it from becoming a reality. Thanks to my friends at CFIR for forwarding this to me and a special thank you to Rep. Kolkhorst for dedicating so much of her time and energy in fighting this boondoggle. Read Rep. Kolkhorst's piece below FIRST because ... Read Full Story

Mr. Unloadingzone reads the Dallas Morning News with his morning cup of coffee, and I must tell you, everyday I read of some stupid decision to make Texas less business friendly or articles lamenting the budget crunch Dallas and the surrounding cities are facing. The rest of the State isn't doing too well either. What a surprise! My next article will be about the decision to shutter and demolish Reunion Arena instead of turning it into a cash cow. But aside for TxDOT selling all our highways for primarily foreign companies to convert to Toll Roads, the new Business Tax which took effect this ... Read Full Story

It is very rare that I will Blog an article from the Dallas Morning News, but I am SO angry that maybe it's better I let Michael Lindenberger of the DMN explain this one. Click read more at the bottom of my comments to be taken to his article. Why am I so upset? Because last week the TTC Commissioner, after being lambasted by the Sunset Advisory Commission, announced the end of the NAFTA Superhighway, as then proposed. They would use "existing resources". Now we find out what that statement really means. Today TxDOT announced a HUGE new version, and awarded more no-bid, multi-billion ... Read Full Story

The following appeared in Representative Ken Paxton's "Capitol Steps" email on Jun 6, 2008. For once, I really don't have anything to add. Mr. Paxton and the Sunset Advisory Commission say it pretty plainly in Mr. Paxton's article: Sunset Advisory Commission Recommends Drastic Changes for Texas Transportation Commission The Sunset Commission was created by the Legislature to identify and eliminate waste, duplication, and inefficiency in government agencies. The Commission reviews over 150 state agencies every 12 years to determine the need for an agency's existence, to propose needed statutory or management changes, and to develop the legislation necessary to enact the proposed changes. Frisco TX City Council Member David Prince emailed his supports this afternoon to ensure they knew he was endorsing Mayor Maso for Mayor. Maso has been endorsed by all Frisco City Council Members except one, choosing to remain neutral, and of course his opponent, the controversial Councilman Matt Lafata. Maso was also endorsed by the Former Mayors of Frisco and the Collin County Association of Realtors recently. As the election approaches, both mainstream media and voter interest is picking up. Early voting starts next week and the election will be held May 10th. A beleaguered Lafata, the subject of a City Ethics Complaint by ... Read Full Story

Dallas Morning News' Wayne Slater catches Perry's change.Something's missing from the Texas governor's official state website. Gone from Rick Perry's biography is any mention of the Trans-Texas Corridor, the beleaguered toll-road project the governor once touted as a crowning jewel accomplishment of his tenure in office. Scrubbed is the paragraph about how Perry expanded the children's health insurance program -- a popular program with...

In politics, names mean things. For Gov. Rick Perry, memories do too. Perry acknowledges the "death" in name only of his Trans-Texas Corridor plan, but in a widely circulated YouTube video at an anti-eminent domain event, Perry didn’t rule out eminent domain being utilized for transportation projects. Perry faces U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and anti-toll road activist Debra Medina in the March 2 GOP primary.

Governor Rick Perry is turning up the heat on Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison's record as one of Washington's biggest spending Republicans. Fiscal and economic issues is, after all, Rick Perry's strong suit heading into this primary election, which should prove to be a tough and bloody one. I'm supporting Rick Perry, but will obviously vote for Kay Baby in the general election should she win the primary. The following ads sure do hurt, though...

R. Donahue Peebles is starting to sound more and more like a man who's running for mayor. On the same morning that Washington Times reporter David C. Lipscomb revealed that several Peebles-related Internet domains have been quietly snapped up, the megadeveloper appeared on WTOP's Politics Program this morning to address the mayoral scuttlebutt. Under questioning from host [...]
