The innovative music and style of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr helped to define the 1960s, and they continue to be held in high regard for their artistic achievements, their huge commercial success, their role in the history of popular music, and their contributions to popular culture. Although their initial musical style was rooted in the sounds of 1950s rock and roll, the group explored a great variety of genres, ranging from Tin Pan Alley to psychedelic rock.
The Beatles are Still Changing the World Forty Years Later
Who doesnt love the Beatlesone of the most successful bands of all timeand they were only together for less than ten years. Heck everybody loves the Beatles, or nearly everybody, and it is because they were a pivotal piece of the rock music progression. They didnt evolve with rock music; the Beatles caused rock music to evolve. Songs like Strawberry Fields provided the world with a glimpse inside the very first usages of MIDI (Music Instrument Digital Interface) and offered a sound and rock and roll flare that had never been seen or heard of before. And today, this song is still amazingly popular and gets regular airplay all over the place.
The Beatles also changed the world of music with other great this like Twist and Shout which was featured in the 80s cult classic movie, Ferris Buellers Day Off. The movements of their chord progressions, the harmony vocals, the image and the lyrics, not to mention albums like Yellow Submarine are what made and make the Beatles so great. It is too bad that they are not together anymore, because the world could use their touch once more!
