Winnie-the-Pooh, the honey-loving, cuddly bear beloved by generations of children, is to hit the big screen again in 2011 with another animated version of his adventures, US media said Tuesday. Disney is hoping the new film chronicling the tales of Pooh and his friends, Christopher Robin, Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger and Owl will prove as big a hit as the last screen animation in 2005, The Hollywood Reporter said. British author A. A. Milne's much-cherished fictional bear has enchanted children since his original books "Winnie-the-Pooh" (1926) and "The House at Pooh Corner" (1928) were first published. Milne named Winnie-the-Pooh after a teddy bear owned by ... Read Full Story

Original Winnie the Pooh stuffed toys. Clockwise from bottom left: Tigger, Kanga, Edward Bear (Winnie the Pooh), Eeyore, and Piglet. Christopher Milne had named his teddy after Winnipeg, a bear which he and his father often saw at London Zoo, and "Pooh", a swan they had met while on holiday. Winnipeg the Bear was purchased from a hunter for $20 by Canadian Lieutenant Harry Colebourn while en-route to England during the First World War. He named the bear "Winnipeg" after his hometown in Manitoba. "Winnie", as she became known, was surreptitiously brought to England with her owner, and gained unofficial recognition as a regimental ... Read Full Story

In the latter part of last month, I had posted news regarding the recall of some cribs due to a potential suffocation hazard. While many have had their heads up for this line, apparently it can go as far as extending towards another line called Graco Bassinets and Winnie the Pooh brands. Apparently, it seems that crib manufacturers have various lines and while we can easily identify one product line, it remains that related ones may more or less become dangerous as well. With that, Graco Bassinets are likewise forewarned as potential hazards and are likewise being recalled. According to the U.S. Consumer Product ... Read Full Story

Written by  Kimberly - Tiggers may not like honey, but apparently some art collectors do.   An original drawing of A.A. Milne' s popular children's characters Winnie-the-Pooh, Tigger and Piglet  sold for $50,000 at a Sotheby's London auction on Tuesday- beating all presale expectations.  The oval pencil sketch by E.H. Shepard , one of children literature's most famous illustrators, shows Pooh dipping his paw into a pot of honey while sitting at a table as Piglet and Tigger look on.  The successful telephne bidder from Germany bought the skecth for his wife, a long-time Pooh fan . Before Winnie the Pooh was produced as an icon in a plethora of Disney movies, cartoons and colorful picture books, he was drawn in the illustrations of E.H. Shepard as a rather English, rural and naked bear who lived in the Hundred Acre Wood, the setting of the children's tales penned by A.A. Milne in his 1928 book, The House at Pooh Corner....

Life just keeps getting tougher for Winnie the Pooh. A sequel to the classic A.A. Milne books about Winnie the Pooh and pals was recently released. It’s called “Return to the Hundred Acre Wood,” by David Benedictus, and it’s already getting heat from fans of the original. A nasty opinion piece by Marjorie Miller in the L.A. Times takes Pooh’s resurrection to task in “A new Winnie-the-Pooh? Oh bother.” read more

A sequel adds little to be desired to A.A. Milne's classic tales. As one who can see a cloud in any silver lining, I have a soft spot for Winnie-the-Pooh's melancholy friend, Eeyore. So I wasn't surprised to find myself agreeing with the donkey's gloomy prediction in the introduction to author David Benedictus' new book of Pooh stories, "Return to the...
