Welcome to our (mostly) weekly discussion group to talk about Stephen, our lives, our friendships with each other, and pretty much anything you’d like to talk about with other readers of No Fact Zone, what we here affectionately call “the Zoners”. This brunch is actually being written at 1:32a, because it’s been a stressful day and my sleep patterns have gotten all out of whack. I did, however, eat a bowl of Golden Grahams for dinner, so I’m totally counting it. Holy cow, Zoners! Has this been an amazing week or what?! And this week, I’m giving a MASSIVE shout-out to all of the ... Read Full Story

The crazy right walked right into the "tea bagger" double entendre, cluelessly using the imagery, and foolishly trying to use it against the President ("teabag Obama!") before having it turned on their own ridiculous movement. So, when Michelle Bachmann and the faux-grass roots groups bused in a bunch of villagers with metaphorical pitchforks and torches, the fact they did it on "Guy Fawkes Day" is just another nugget of comedy gold for Stephen Colbert. Oooh! This is excellent. When Stephen announced that the Colbert Nation was going to sponsor US Speedskating, one of my first reactions was, “I really hope they bring Joey Cheek back to the show.” And tonight, I see this: Yay! That guy is a real class act. An Olympic gold medalist and humanitarian , he’s the kind of spokesman any organization would be proud to have. (And, let’s face it, he’s delightfully easy on the eyes.) What a great way to keep the US Speedskating sponsorship effort in the spotlight. I’m really, really looking forward to Cheek’s upcoming appearance. If you missed his last ... Read Full Story

In case you missed it, check out Colbert's hilarious and spot-on comment this week on private prisons. Why privatize just prisons, he asks, when we can privatize the whole criminal justice system? What's more "efficient" than a cop working on commission? Watch below. Not the most humorous interview, but Stephen Colbert last night got Bratton to explain his "Broken Windows Theory," which was applied here in L.A., and how he's going to apply it to his new private security gig. In 2007, then-City Councilmember (now City Controller) Wendy Greuel spoke to LAist about the broken windows theory application in Los Angeles.
