It is generally accepted by most archaeologists that they were constructed as burial monuments associated with royal solar and stellar cults, and most were built during the Old and Middle Kingdom periods .

Everyone knows about the Pyramids at Giza, it’s a must see for tourists around the world. At the beginning of my time in Cairo, a friend from Binghamton came to visit and I took her to the Giza Pyramids.  We had a blast getting there as we took the subway and three cabs to get there. The huge architectural achievements of the past are built of stone. Stone quarries supplied the large jams of granite, limestone, and sandstone that were used for construction temples and tombs.
