This site will examine existing international policies that continue to neglect the 24 million stateless and internally displaced people around the world. Articles posted on this site will evaluate activities taken by the U.N., USAID, INGOs and others to address the issue of statelessness and displacement. Additionally, this site will serve to inform and encourage individual and collective action on behalf of the forgotten.

The Dominican Republic declared its independence from Haiti in a movement led by Juan Duarte and Pedro Santana. It adopted a presidential form of government, but Santana forced the constitutional assembly to include an article in the constitution that gave him dictatorial powers, allowing him to drive out his political opponents, including Duarte.
