A community portal about The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a science fiction comedy series created by Douglas Adams, debuted as a radio comedy broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 1978. Since then it has been adapted to other formats, slowly becoming an international multi-media phenomenon over a span of several years. Adaptations have included stage shows, a series of five books first published between 1979 and 1992, a 1981 TV series, a 1984 computer game, and three series of three-part comic book adaptations of the first three novels published by DC Comics between 1993 and 1996. There were also two series of towels, produced by Beer-Davies, that are considered by some fans to be an "official version" of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, as they include text from the first novel. A Hollywood-funded film version, produced and filmed in the UK, was released in April 2005, and adaptations of the last three books to radio were broadcast from 2004 to 2005. Many of these adaptations, including the novels, the TV series, the computer game, and the earliest drafts of the Hollywood film's screenplay, were all done by Adams himself, and some of the stage shows debuted new material written by Adams.

What if it was only a huge marketing ploy by the priests and the funeral directors, just to get us to willingly pay them a lot of money so that we can book early our resting place before our journey to eternity?

A necessary break from obsession about politics: Happy Douglas Adams' BD! Here's the story of how he came to create the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, from today's " Writer's Almanac " (I particularly like the bit about deadlines): "It's the birthday of writer Douglas Adams, born in Cambridge, England (1952), best known for his five-book "trilogy" The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy , a series of comic science fiction novels that sold more than 14 million copies during his lifetime and... Yes. I have a countdown for Eoin Colfer's new book, And Another Thing on my blog (look to right of page). It has absolutely nothing to do with my own writing, Not a thing. So why would I do this? Well, the truth (the whole truth and nothing but the interplanetary truth) is, I've been a Douglas Adams/ Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy fan for what seems like most of my life. That may not make much sense in the current context until you know that the wonderful Eoin, (pronounced Owen if you didn... Read Full Story
There's a sequel by someone else to one of your favourite children's books. It's sitting there on the shelf, calling to you with a siren whisper. "Now you can find out WHAT HAPPENED NEXT. C'mon, you KNOW you want to." But do you? Do you really? Just published is Hilary McKay's answer to Frances Hodgson Burnett's 'A Little Princess', called 'Wishing For Tomorrow'. I've ordered it, but deep in my heart I know I probably shouldn't have done. Sara Crewe's story was one of the great loves of my... Read Full Story

We have been jumping all over the Alizee Galaxy lately. A post here and there, most just for fun and then me hitching a ride on great reader comments. I am enjoying logging on and reading the blog comments lately. I just need to open up multiple tabs first. One set on Wikipedia, another on an online dictionary, and one on a search engine. I need to have my references ready for these 'Deep Thought' comments that have me scurrying to keep up. In referring to Manga and Alizee reader Problematic... Read Full Story
