I will share my personal experience. By the third night I was sleeping more sounder than I have in years and didn't experience any side effects. - SNP: VDR (Vitamin D Receptor) this one gene accounts for 75% of the entire genetic infulence on bone destiny;
- SNP:GPX1 (Glutathione Peroxidase 1) A SNP on the GPX1 gene can reduce a person's ability to utilize selenium. That means higher than normal selenium intake is needed to afford protection to hydrogen peroxide-sensitive tissues, particularly lung and breast tissues.
- SNP:MMP-1 (Matrix Metalloproteinase) People with a SNP in the MMP1 gene produce collagenase at an increased rate, which means their bodies may break down collagen faster than they can rebuild it. This told me that I needed added support for collagen-rich structure such as bones and joints. But, I didn't need to guess what product on the shelf at the store was best for me, because they knew exactly what my body would accept and added it to my nutritional supplement knowing what my body would asborb.
- SNP:PON-1 (Paraoxonase 1) While it used to be thought that high cholesterol posed a health issue; in and of itself, it is now believed that cholesterol only becomes a problem once the cholesterol carrier, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), becomes oxidized (attacked by free radicals). The PON-1 enzymetn attaches itself to high-density lipoprotein (HDL), which protects both HDL and LDL from oxidation. Due to common SNPs in the PON-1 gene, blood levels of PON-1 can vary by a factor of 10 to 40 fold among different individuals. Those with low levels of PON-1 have higher levels of oxidized LDL, which can lead to diminished cardiovascular health. In my report it showed that I needed added support for this SNP.
- SNP:CYP11B2 The CYP11B2 gene encodes an enzyme called aldosterone synthase, which plays a role in regulating blood pressure. This result was of no surprise to me, because I've always been told by my doctor that I had a extremely low blood pressure. But, extremely low pressure can be dangerous for me and has been in the past. Now, I'm in control and can add added support to regulate my blood pressure at a more normal level. To my amazement no doctor that I've ever seen has suggested added nutritional support for my extremely low blood pressure. Maybe if I knew this was possible my OG-GYN doctor may not have almost lost me on the surgery table. But, he is the greatest and top of his field in my eyes, because he saved my life that day.
