The Nanny Diaries

From TODAY correspondent Sara HainesAs a former nanny myself, I loved reading "The Nanny Diaries."  The authors, Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus were on the show promoting their new book "Nanny Returns" (which I begged, borrowed and pleaded more than anything else to get a copy.) As you begin to read this you may wonder what is to come. But there is no way to establish expectation until you understand past events leading up to this point in my life. As of now, I am a nanny, or "manny" as it's more commonly stated. I am a male, in the role of caregiver to a 2 year old boy. Also due in two-weeks time is yet another baby boy. This child, soon to be children, that I care for is/are the offspring of my brother and his wife...  

Seven years ago, the best-selling novel "The Nanny Diaries" introduced us to Nan Hutchinson, an intelli­gent and compassionate nanny. Through her eyes, readers watched wealthy New Yorkers focus on their social lives and neglect the emotional needs of their children -- including little Grayer, the son of Nan's em­ployers, Mr. and Mrs. X.
