She skipped from stone to stone across the stream, each stepping stone subsiding with her stride. No tears for trampled islands, she was on the other side. In comfort, and in loneliness, she mused she’d never feel or be felt from outside. Her brain a private island she lived and thrived inside. The world and she were sisters, though not fused, new sustenance delivered on each tide. She lived upon an island, Necessities supplied. Her needs well met, she soon began to dream of wants her bounded home could not provide. She took them from the island, and then the island died. Assured the ... Read Full Story

In Flanders Fields By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Army In Flanders Fields the poppies blow Between the crosses row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though ... Read Full Story

Why, in the blink of an eye, a person dies from cancer, a soul is saved, an angel rejoices, a teenager commits suicide, a couple gets divorced, a couple marries, a dog gets run over by a car, a puppy is born, a basement floods, ... Worlds Apart On the far side of my ocean, That’s where you are. Our positions never meet, They find quick defeat! Confused, frustrated, and determined Echoes travel across this vast distance. Only to hit a wall, Right in the middle of my ocean! On the far side of the ocean Is your cold and closed beach. Our words disconnect over tides, You live your own life. Your coded, loaded, and bloated Stiff echoing non cantankerous Words rebound right back to your beach, And my silent ocean is bleak. On the far side of your scarlet beach, Across my indigo ocean. Our opposite worlds never ... Read Full Story

A flutter of butterflies flies, aflutter in sumptuous skies dancing between rise and fall forming a quivering rainbow. Still, nothing in comparison: With the group, a fish denies its uniqueness, flying naturally above the waves. One being, tracing a humble miracle across the eclipsed kaleidoscope. Through the rippling looking glass, searching for a home, a school of fish flits fleetly, fostering a misplaced wish: One butterfly amongst them all is lost, a great frenzied flutter in water makes no difference. To the others it is much easier to follow the flow through the ocean. They pass through the rippling looking glass, searching for a ... Read Full Story
