Chile, or the Republic of Chile, as it is officially known, is a country in South America. It occupies a long and narrow coastal strip along the Pacific Ocean, and contains the Andes Mountains. Peru is located to the north, Bolivia to the northeast, Argentina to the east and the Drake Passage at the country’s southernmost top.

One of the most difficult things in the world is to write a serious political novel that is not a pot boiler. Joe Klein’s Primary Colors is a good example: compulsive reading, but stoked on gossip and innuendo. After the Netherlands denied that an agreement had been reached to sell 18 used F-16 fighter planes to Chile, Minister of Defense Fransico Vidal admitted today that the documents have yet to be signed. The political authority reiterated however, that the purchase of the aircrafts is practically a done deal.
