"When I left the dorm this morning, no one really knew what was going on until I walked outside and there were [about] 20 police cars in the quad. So I knew something was up, but no e-mails had been sent out yet. And when I got to class, people were talking, they were like, 'What happened?,' and no one knew. And then the e-mails started coming. The Roanoke Times is reporting that one man had to hang out of a window at Norris Hall to avoid the gunman. the story stems from a student report from freshman Douglas Cobb. Doug Cobb said that Jake Grohs told him he climbed out the window of an engineering class as the gunman apparently made his way from room to room in Norris. Cobb said. Roanoke Times paraphrases The New York Times in describing Cho Seung-Hui as "a loner with no friends, at least none known by his two roommates." The Roanoke Times reports that "Hokies United", an ad hoc group that has brought together Virginia Tech's student organizations during past tragedies, is organizing a candlelight vigil tomorrow night on Virginia Tech's Drillfield. The vigil is open to the public (and the press) and will begin at 7:30 p.m. Students are preparing memorial events for the vigil including a candle passing ceremony and a wall where messages can be written to victims and their families.
