Stratford District Council (Hell's Ankles - Warwickshire Chapter)

Interesting stuff going on in these here parts concerning the UK’S premier Motorcycle event, the Bulldog Bash. To cut a long story short, the police want it banned this year because of last years shooting/murder on the M40. Citing probable gang warfare between the Outlaws and Hell’s Angels, the cops say basically that this year’s event goes ahead over their dead body.

Unfortunately for the police, the public-spirited/money-minded? Stratford District Council have, believe it or not granted a license. One can’t help wondering if perhaps they (the SDC) should have listened to the cops considering that in 1998 the Outlaws issued a bomb threat against the Bash and in 2001, there was another shooting (no-one died).

Anyway, what I find amusing (for want of a better word) is the stunning detective work that’s gone on to back up the police’s case. Read this from Top Cop, Assistant Chief Constable Bill Holland...

'The murder of Mr Tobin (last years victim) has led to an investigation of the Bulldog Bash that we have never done before...we found that it (the event) was used to discuss Hell’s Angel business from across Europe, (no...I don’t believe it) while I wouldn’t wish to speculate what this business is (oh go on-pomegranate smuggling? Illegal sherbet trading? I know...I know...morris dancing without a license?)...we have evidence to suggest that the Hell’s Angels are involved in organised crime.’ (Wash your mouth out with soap and water).

There was also a statement from, and you’re not going to believe this, the Hell’s Angel’s Counsel Michael Bromley- Martin QC who rambled on about something that’s too boring to mention here.

The last word was left to Bash Organiser Hell’s Angel John ‘Bilbo’ Britt who said he was ‘...relieved and pleased’ that the license had been granted.
