The last of four Grand Slam events of the year takes place in New York when the top tennis players in the world battle it out for the U.S. Open title.
Roger Federer ist beim Masters-Turnier der Tennisprofis in Paris bereits in seinem Auftaktspiel gescheitert. Der Weltranglisten-Erste aus der Schweiz unterlag am späten Mittwochabend dem Franzosen Julien Benneteau 6:3, 6:7 und 4:6. Benneteau hatte zuvor den Bayreuther Philipp Petzschner ebenfalls in drei Sätzen besiegt.
