Top Of The Muffin TV Viewing Paradox

Good Morning Contestants! Here at The Umbrella Fonzie Experiment, we take our TV viewing two ways: deadly serious and never serious. Example: I have named my DVR as executor of my will. BUT , I can watch a full episode of "Charles In Charge" without fast forwarding. Make sense? Here's another example: We are depressed that television analog signals will soon be a fuzzy, yet warm, memory from our past. BUT, we were also depressed when we got to the last episode of "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman... Read Full Story

Courtship Of Eddie's Father

"People let me tell you bout my best friend..." Ahhh yes, that sweet song, written by Harry Nilsson , began the beloved show, The Courtship Of Eddie's Father . Bill Bixby, later of The Incredible Hulk , played single-dad to the loveable Eddie, who, in turn, would try to fix his dad up with a steady flow of bride-to-bes. Jodie Foster made scattered appearances as Eddie's pal Joey. Pal Joey, get it?? Anyway, they also had a housekeeper, Mrs. Livingston, to keep an eye on the bachelors. This... Read Full Story

Caveman Val Kilmer Connection

I need to profess my unhealthy love for these Geico Cavemen ads. I can not get enough of these cavemen! The spots are clever, funny, and really a breath of fresh air in the commercials universe. The one where the caveguy is in therapy and role plays with the caveman doll is superb. Not to mention the similarity of the caveman pictured here and VAL KILMER!!!! Look at him and tell me the truth. He is prehistoric Val Kilmer. There is word that a TV pilot is being developed for the Geico Cavemen... Read Full Story

Dick Gautier...More Than A Robot

G ood Monday morning to you! I have decided to write about Dick Gautier, most famous for his deadpan portrayal of Hymie the robot on Get Smart . I have come to know the Dick Gautier of classic game shows, like Super Password , Password Plus and Match Game , to name a few. Always sporting an extremely black head of shiny hair, Gautier is a tireless class clown. Always yukking it up with the host or being a bit too friendly with the female contestants. STOP. WHY ARE YOU WRITING ABOUT DICK... Read Full Story

SLOAN

You must run to your nearest music source and find some SLOAN . Think Canadian power-pop bliss. Think 70's Cheap Trick meets the Beatles with a little vintage Kiss t hrown in for good measure. Sloan goes beyond this description, but it gets you in the ballpark. Their new record, cleverly titled "Never Hear The End Of It", has 30 songs and does NOT get boring at any point. LONG LIVE SONGWRITERS. LONG LIVE ROCK AND ROLL... Who Loves Ya Baby? E$ Read Full Story

Batfink

Does anyone remember Batfink ? We caught this yesterday on Boomerang and really dug it. Clearly a Batman parody, this little bat superhero, and unexplainable sidekick "Karate," fight crime together. "Karate" has a strange build and very high-pitched voice. We had to think about this for awhile. Anyway, the cartoon was made in 1967 by Hal Seeger. All 100 episodes are scheduled for a June release on DVD. Who Loves Ya Baby? E$ Read Full Story

Oh, Bob?

And then there's Bob! Where's this guy been? Do you remember a time when everyone was talking about this man? Remember how scary he seemed. Seems like a guy from a Kevin Smith movie now. Who Loves Ya Baby? E$ Does Read Full Story
