The transition has already begun for the man who will be Milwaukee’s next Archbishop. Current La Crosse Bishop and Milwaukee Archbishop-Designate Jerome Listecki is already busy getting ready for his new job. When he first came to Milwaukee following the announcement of his new post, he sought patience and forgiveness, admitting he will make mistakes. “When you assume a position of leadership, you look at what leadership demands and how many aspects of diversity are a part of it, and you know you’re going to make mistakes,” said Listecki in a one-on-one ... I cannot say that I am surprised by the admission of former Roman Catholic Archbishop Rembert Weakland that he is gay in his new memoirs, " A Pilgrim in a Pilgrim Church: Memoirs of a Catholic Archbishop. " Indeed, while I make no excuses for him, I suspect that Weakland is but one of thousands self-hating closet case within the Catholic Church hierarchy who has tried to suppressed his sexual orientation and often transferred his internalized homophobia to normal, self-accepting gays. The closet and its attraction fueled by a gay-bashing society/churches is an insidious cancer that needs to be eradicated in a gay accepting ... Read Full Story

Everywhere he went, the cleric was quick with a smile, a joke and a hug. To a youngster at the Seder he quipped, "I know you'd rather be in math class!" He told inmates at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility that he loves ministering to prisoners because, "You're the only people who never leave Mass early." He also obligingly autographed a ... When Archbishop Timothy Dolan became the leader of the New York Archdiocese this week, he read a part of his first sermon in Spanish. It made demographic sense — many of the city's Roman Catholics are Latino. The shift from Catholic to other Christian denominations has been gathering momentum in the Latino community in ... Read Full Story
