When we woke up this morning, we had no idea that we'd be spending the majority of our day writing about movie trailers. Alas, such is life; for that, we humbly apologize. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, it's time to watch the trailer for Date Night, the highly anticipated big-screen coupling of the two shiniest staples of NBC's Thursday-night lineup, Steve Carell and Tina Fey. Source: THR The comedic duo of Steve Carell and Tina Fey have already filmed Date Night together, and now they are circling a new project titled Mail-Order Groom. The new project would focus on a woman who brings a husband back from Eastern Europe. Date Night is set to open on April 9, 2010, and it promises to be one of the biggest box office hits of the spring. Both Fey and Carell are at the top of their game right now.

So, here at SNL Digest, we're trying to have a hopeful, kind conversation about a show—and a tradition—we hold dear, the slope of its decline regardless. But last night's January Jones episode? One word: disaster. How disaster-y? Now, here's how we talk about SNL when we talk about SNL. These be the rules: Standardized Responses for SNL Threads. 1. SNL is still on? 2. I might have to watch this SNL sometime. 3. SNL hasn't been funny since...

Saturday Night Live took up the Tiger Woods story Saturday night and the skit has exploded across the blogosphere. Is this a pop culture spoof that's fair game -- or is it tasteless on a night when the show's musical guest was Rihanna, the performer who was famously assaulted by Chris Brown. Would we be laughing so hard if Tiger had assaulted his wife? Seems to me like this one was over the top. Watch for yourself and decide.
