In the battle of the Russians, Dmitry Tursunov came out with the victory after defeating Marat Safin, who recently made the semifinal at Wimbledon. Tomas Berdych, 4th seed, reached the Swedish Open final on Saturday, after rallying past Fernando Verdasco, second seed, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. This is Berdych second final in Bastad, the first time he lost to Nadal. During the semifinal Berdych served eight aces and converted three of six break points while Verdasco made 10 double-faults.
