Two months ago, Josh Brolin was selected to replace Sean Penn in Asger Leth's Cartel when Penn unexpectedly went on hiatus for unspecified personal reasons. I always hate reporting this kind of news, especially when there isn't a replacement director yet. It all just feels so hopeless. Last month we reported that Tommy Lee Jones would be directing and co-starring in The Lincoln Lawyer, a legal thriller based on Michael Connolly's 2005 novel. Variety says that Tommy Lee Jones has dropped out of The Lincoln Lawyer , which he had been set to direct and co-star in with Matthew McConaughey. Vareity says Jones has left the project over creative differences on the script, which is an adaptation of the Michael Connelly novel. Lakeshore Entertainment, which has a script by John Romano, will look to lock in another director in hopes of beginning production next spring.  

Back in October, we told you that Tommy Lee Jones was coming on board a film called The Lincoln Lawyer. Plan was for him to direct from John Romano's script, and also co-star alongside Matthew McConaughey. While the film is still going, sadly Jones is no longer part of the project.
