Usually in hockey, it's a huge disappointment when your stick shatters on a breakaway. Honestly, how are you supposed to score with no stick? Most players just quit. Unless of course you're Dominic Moore of the Toronto Maple Leafs , who's either: Awesome at soccer Freakishly coordinated Just a serious badass Either way, Moore pulled an awesome move Saturday as the Leafs took on Vancouver. As his stick broke, Moore tossed it aside, then juggled the puck between his feet before passing it to... Read Full Story
LEAFS WIN! LEAFS WIN!
THAT'S RIGHT - IT DIDN'T EVEN TAKE 10 GAMES OF THE SEASON AND THE TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS HAVE PULLED OFF THEIR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON. IN CELEBRATION - THIS POST IS ALL CAPS - WOO-HOO! I'M SO EXCITED THAT I CAN BARELY CONTAIN MYSELF. I MEAN, SURE - THEY ARE THE VERY LAST TEAM IN THE WHOLE DAMN LEAGUE TO GET A WIN - BUT THEY GOT IT!

As expected, Barry didn't let many cats out of the bag during his interview with Pratt and Taylor this afternoon. But he did kind of narrow it down as to who Sundin may choose. I don't have the interview word-for-word, but I took notes. The following is as accurate as I could make it. -Barry mentioned that it was unfortunate that the Sundin story wouldn't stop. Sundin had been spending time with his family. When he got home, the story from DN was out that he had already signed with the... Read Full Story
Of course people are taking this as Sundin will not play for the Leafs again. Maybe that is justifiable. But that house has been on the market for quite a while apparently (May 2006). Sundin bought the mansion in 2003 for $1.7 million, renovated the bloody hell out of it, a nd sold it for $5.7 million. Of course, the article/news sparked a lot of Sundin bashing by Leafs fans, as they are saying 'goodbye and good riddance', but it reeks of bitterness. Word is that Sundin is practicing, but... His name is Rory McAlpine and he's the VP of Government and Industry Relations for Maple Leaf Foods Inc. - the same Maple Leaf Foods whose contaminated equipment caused the worst listeria outbreak in Canadian history which tragically led to the deaths of 22 Canadians. If I were the President of Maple Leaf Foods Mr. McAlpine would be fired in the blink of an eye. Why? Because on August 8th, at the 78th Annual Couchiching Conference during a session entitled, "Food Safety and Regulation: How... Read Full Story

How was the off season? Toronto Maple Leafs added some significant names to their defense core but I still feel a lot needs to be done up front. I am satisfied by this small push Burke has given to the line-up and I hope that we compete. The best signing? It has to be Gustavsson. The guy was a the best goalie in one of the best leagues. He will push Toskala to the limit and become a very useful goalie for us down the road. Rookies up front? Ron Wilson talked about five or six rookies. Since... Read Full Story

From TSN : Sources tell TSN Mats Sundin and his representatives JP Barry and Claes Elefalk met with Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Cliff Fletcher Friday morning. Joe Nieuwendyk, recently hired as Fletcher's assistant was also involved in the discussions. Sources say Fletcher outlined his plan for the team this season and assured Sundin that Toronto will keep the door open for the 37-year-old captain in the event he decides to resume his career. "It was a very relaxed meeting," said... Read Full Story
