Appreciating Tony Gonzalez

"Yeah, you like that vert, Mr. Best CB in the NFL?" This week may very well be our last week with Tony Gonzalez as a Chief.  We all are acutely aware of Tony's multiple All-Time TE records, and I have become increasingly irritated by the media always qualifying his accomplishments with "Tight End" preceding everything.  For, against, or indifferent to Tony's possible departure, we need to truly appreciate just what Tony has been so far... An Elite Receiver. Tony's Career stats... Read Full Story

Class Act

From:  ramsgab.com
Torry Holt, the Jaguars new Wide Receiver, took time out of his undoubtedly busy schedule to write this letter to all Rams fans. To the St. Louis Rams Fans: As I begin the next chapter of my career, I want to thank you for your continuous support during my 10 years in St. Louis. When I was drafted by the Rams in 1999, you showed me and my family so much love and encouragement, and we greatly appreciate it still to this day. Your excitement and enthusiasm for the Rams made the Edward... Read Full Story

Bleacher Report Take Down Part 2

From:  ramsgab.com
So, as soon as I read my first article on Bleacher Report about the St. Louis Rams, I knew that there were many more misinformed and awfully written articles out there for the dissecting.  And lo and behold, one falls right into my lap.  It is titled, “St. Louis Rams Headed in Right Direction, But A Dog’s Age Away From Contention”. This article is no where as bad as my previous Bleacher Report takedown , but I needed to “defend the shield” and represent for the Rams. All the goodness... Read Full Story

St. Louis Rams Schedule: First Glance & Over Analysis

St. Louis Rams The Rams were horrible last season. Another team that was riddled with injuries, team strife and were just plain bad at football. With a new coaching staff and 180 degree turn in philosophy from the "Greatest Show on Turf." The Rams will look to defense and controlling the clock to help prevent a repeat of last season. The team will look different personnel wise also. With some key additions (Jason Brown, C & James Butler, S) and other long time Ram players (Orlando Pace... Read Full Story

Ladies and Gents, Your St. Louis Rams Receiving Corps!

Current #1, Donnie Avery. Wait, what? Let me start by saying I'm not picking on the Rams. And, yes, I realize with players getting released, free agency, trades and the draft, that rosters today are far from what they'll be the opening weekend of the NFL 2009 season. That said, we couldn't help but do a double-take when checking out the Rams receiving corps sans the recently-released Torry Holt . The move was neither unexpected nor illogical. In fact, it makes perfect sense. This a Rams team... Read Full Story

Rams Release Long-Time Veteran WR Torry Holt

In an expected move, today the Rams said good-bye to another former number one draft choice, as the team released wide receiver Torry Holt. It’s the second first-round pick to be released by the team this past week, as the team also released OT Orlando Pace. Holt had been asking to be traded or released, and the team seemed happy to oblige. He was due a $1.25 million roster bonus on March 17th and his release clears $8 million in cap space for the Rams. He won’t be on the free agent... Read Full Story

Roster Surgery

From:  ramsgab.com
It’s been a bit of a bare patch for news about the Rams as they transition from the pre-draft to post-draft. Mini-camps have come and gone, without much news. No injuries so far, which is always a good thing (It’s gotten so bad I’m even afraid for the team to practice). But with Rams vet’s getting cut left and right (see: Pina), just what does this new organization have in store for the Rams? Taking a look at some information that STLtoday has provided, 21 Rams players that were on the... Read Full Story

Rams Release Torry Holt

Photo courtesy of Icon SMI The Rams continued to purge by releasing future Hall of Famer Torry Holt on the heels of their release of future Hall of Famer Orlando Pace to officially close the door on the Greatest Show on Turf.  Holt had his streak of eight straight 1188+ yard season snapped last year as he managed just 796.  He managed just 64 receptions, which was the first time he dipped below 81 since his Rookie season.  He also scored a career low three TDs. Does that mean Holt is... Read Full Story

Why Are the Dolphins Not talking to Holt?

From:  dolphinsgab.com
NFL.com is reporting that seven-time Pro Bowl WR Torry Holt is close to finalising a deal with the Jaguars. Apparently he had also spoken to the Titans. As I’ve said before , we have greater needs than WR leading up to the draft, but it is universally acknowledged that we still need a go-to guy. Even if we did pick one in the first round, it’s unlikely he would be that sort of player in his first season, so why aren’t we looking to bring in a veteran? This year’s free agency has been...
