Most all the Vermont locals I have talked to agree that the fall leaf colors this year are much better than average. I am seeing more red than any year in recent memory. We had a very good foliage season last year and I think this will be better. On Thursday, my wife and I drove down to Manchester VT in the southwestern part of the state. We saw a lot of good color already and those areas are just getting started. It seems like the eastern side of the state is a little ahead of the western side. We saw more color on ... See the Winter Trails website for information about this rare opportunity to test cross country and snowshoes free. There are ten ski areas around the state participating in Winter Trails 2009. Most of the Vermont ski areas are holding the event this coming Saturday, January 10 except Bolton Valley which is holding the event January 11. Also, note that you have to fill out a Registration & Release Form - there is a link to ... Read Full Story

There I was, amazingly unprepared, in a lot of pain, and not really sure of what had just happened. I had had little training in first aid and had no idea what to do. Luckily for me, our guide had a pretty nice first aid kit and hooked me up ... Read Full Story

Wow - we spent some time this past week at Liberty Square in Egg Harbor. If you remember where the Village Shops used to be, well Liberty Square is the new and fabulous iteration of this space, and the owners have done a stupendous job of renovating the site. There is a great restaurant, The Bistro at Liberty Square, where we have dined often - great food for breakfast, lunch or dinner. All under one roof is another 9 unique shops, with items from all over the world - and in general, items you won't find in other Door County shops. We strolled through ... Read Full Story
