Broncos Say 'Bye Bye' to Travis Henry
Running back Travis Henry has only been with the Denver Broncos for one season, and they're already letting him go. The Broncos released Henry today, saying his commitment to the team was in question.Henry was signed to Denver last season with a five-year $22.5 million contract. In September he failed a test for marijuana and was told he would be suspended for a year. But the punishment was overturned after Henry challenged the test, and won.
Still, the Broncos doubted his commitment. In a written statement, coach Mike Shanahan said, "We did not feel his commitment to the Broncos was enough to warrant a spot on this football team. Although Travis has the ability to be one of the top running backs in the NFL, we have to make decisions that are in the best interests of our organization and its goal of winning a Super Bowl."
In his one season with the Broncos, Henry rushed for 691 yards on 167 carries with four touchdowns. His season was full of injuries, and he recently injured a hamstring while running 100-yard sprints last month.
Apparently if you're injury prone, the Broncos don't want you.
