What a difference a season makes. Last year, during the Tennessee Titans' league-leading 13-3 regular season, including the 10-0 streak they ran off to start it, the running back tandem of Smash-n-Dash—LenDale White and Chris Johnson, respectively—ran roughshod over opposing defenses, gaining a combined 2,001 yards rushing with 24 touchdowns between them. Chris Johnson set the NFL record for yards from scrimmage in a season on Sunday, the first of two league milestones he reached in the Tennessee Titans' season finale. The second-year running back caught a pass in the flat for a 9-yard gain in the second quarter Sunday at Seattle to break Marshall Faulk's record of 2,429 scrimmage yards set in 1999.  

Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Tony Brown will miss Sunday's season finale against the Seattle Seahawks because of a knee problem. Brown, who has five sacks, originally injured his quadriceps against the St. Louis Rams on Dec. 13. On Friday he said blood from that injury has leaked into the knee area, causing pain and swelling.  

Chris Johnson did it once, and now he wants to do it again. Reach 2,000 yards, that is. Johnson said a day after becoming the sixth back in NFL history to run for 2,000 yards in a single season, finishing with 2,006, that he also wouldn't mind being No. 7 either. If that happens, Johnson would become the first player in NFL history to reach the mark twice. Sounds farfetched, but at age 24, Johnson should just be entering the prime of his NFL...

The NFL has fined Tennessee defensive coordinator Chuck Cecil $20,000 for prohibited verbal abuse of a game official as a result of his sideline comments in the Titans' 42-17 loss to San Diego on Christmas night. The Titans had just been flagged for roughing Philip Rivers when an official heard Cecil say something.  

Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson sounded like he was shooting for the moon back in the spring with such goals as leading the NFL in rushing and being voted most valuable player. He's already accomplished the first by a wide margin. MVP? That award usually is dominated by quarterbacks. But Johnson has been very busy dashing toward some lofty NFL records.  

Tennessee cornerback Nick Harper injured his forearm against the San Diego Chargers, and his return was questionable. Harper broke his right forearm Oct. 11, but whether he re-injured that arm wasn't immediately known. He missed a couple practices this week because of a sore shoulder. Harper was replaced by rookie Jason McCourty on the first series of the second half.  

The Tennessee Titans' improbable playoff dreams are finished for this season. Now it's back to reality with goals quickly set on two other historic marks. Finish 8-8, which no NFL team has ever managed after starting a season with six straight losses. And get Chris Johnson to 2,000 yards rushing, making him only the sixth player in league history to reach that mark.
