In a fierce rivalry that has featured several of the most notable NFL players over the past 10 years, a couple of backups made their mark in memorable fashion. Add third-string quarterback Dennis Dixon to a list of notable Pittsburgh Steelers that includes Hines Ward, Ben Roethlisberger, Plaxico Burress and Troy Polamalu.  

In a taped interview with Bob Costas aired beforehand on NBC's "Football Night in America," Hines Ward talked about the locker room being "like a 50-50 toss-up" over whether quarterback Ben Roethlisberger should have played last night.  

Steelers safety Troy Polamalu didn't practice today and is unlikely to play Sunday night against the Baltimore Ravens. Defensive end Travis Kirschke, who missed the last three games because of a strained calf, said he will play.

In a stunning turn of events, it appears Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not play Sunday night against the Baltimore Ravens. Roethlisberger complained of headaches after practice on Wednesday and Thursday, despite passing all neurological tests this week and pronouncing himself fit to play. Team doctors will test him today and tomorrow to see how he feels and if he'll be able to go, but all signs point to Big Ben not...

Jay Glazer has reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers will pin their hopes on the right arm of Dennis Dixon for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens after it was decided that Ben Roethlisberger won't play due to "exercise-induced headaches." [FoxSports]  

Will Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger play against the Baltimore Ravens this week? According to our Magic 8-Ball, ”All Signs Point To Yes”, but a line for the game has yet to be released. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported earlier that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin expected Big Ben to play, and yesterday said that Roethlisberger was taking snaps with the first-team offense at practice. FoxSports.com is reporting that Ben Roethlisberger will sit out the Steelers' game at Baltimore Sunday night. Fox ace reporter Jay Glazer broke the story this morning. He wrote: The Steelers are sitting Ben Roethlisberger out of Sunday's division matchup with the Ravens and Dennis Dixon will get the start, FOXSports.com has learned.  

Ben Roethlisberger played one of the worst games of his NFL career one week after sustaining a concussion in 2006. He is days removed from his fourth concussion in four years, an uncommonly high number even for an NFL player.Regardless, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback is going through “a normal week” of preparation for a pivotal game at Baltimore on Sunday night and has every intention of playing.  

The Pittsburgh Steelers have met with experienced quarterbacks Patrick Ramsey and Todd Bouman, a sign that injured backup Charlie Batch might be out longer than the team first expected. Batch broke his left wrist in Kansas City on Sunday, leaving second-year quarterback Dennis Dixon as the only backup to starter Ben Roethlisberger on the 53-man roster.  

One game back of the Cincinnati Bengals, the Pittsburgh Steelers entered the weakest part of their schedule. With the exception of playing the Baltimore Ravens twice, the only potential playoff team the Steelers play against is the Miami Dolphins. The only position on the Steelers that looked the most set on Sunday morning was the quarterback. Not anymore. PITTSBURGH -- Steelers backup quarterback Charlie Batch injured his left wrist after replacing Ben Roethlisberger during an overtime loss in Kansas City and could miss the rest of the regular season. Batch was hurt despite playing only four plays in the Steelers' 27-24 loss -- his first game action since 2007.  

After a rocky start with another kick-off return for a touchdown, the Steelers have started to put it all together.  The Steelers haven't allowed any points on defense and Ben Roethlisberger has thrown two touchdowns.  Hopefully Pittsburgh will close this one out with some more solid running from Rashard Mendenhall who has looked great so far today!
