Twitter is rolling out the new Retweet function and my account is one of the beta accounts that was able to test out the new retweet functionality. First of all, to even know if your account is able to use the new retweet you must use the twitter.com homepage as at the time of this article HootSuite, Twaiter and Tweetdeck don’t yet support the new Twitter Retweet function. The first thing you will notice is that when you look at someone who you are following you see the new “Retweet” symbol which looks a lot like a recycling symbol. This symbol indicates you will ... In the month or so since Twitter started rolling out its Twitter Lists feature, a number of web and Adobe AIR based clients have added support for it. However, we haven’t seen any native Twitter apps support Lists. Today Realmac Software released Socialite Beta 3 for Mac OS X, including, among other enhancements — basic list support. Realmac acquired Socialite (then named EventBox) back in October and expects to release the first version of the program by the end of the month. Socialite is a multi-purpose social media client, and like Seesmic Desktop, TweetDeck and Brizzly , it lets you track and update your ... Read Full Story

I’ve long been looking for a Windows-based Twitter client that can delight me as much as its native Mac counterparts. Too many clients for Windows depend on Adobe AIR, something which isn’t an ideal arrangement, in my opinion. TweetDeck and Seesmic are both powerful tools, but why can’t someone make a Windows-native app that works [...]

In my experience, the best way of interacting with your community on Twitter is by using a third-party application rather than via Twitter’s website. My app of choice on the desktop is TweetDeck, a product I’ve been using since it first appeared last year and which I’ve frequently written about. I also like Seesmic, an app [...]

First of all, yes, everyone on Twitter now should have access to the new Retweet functionality. Currently, only Twitter.com and a handful of clients support the new mechanism. But did you know that you can also trigger the new Retweets via SMS? As the Twitter mobile account noted earlier tonight, if you simply send "RT USERNAME" to 40404 (at least in the U.S.) it will automatically retweet the last tweet of whatever username you entered has...

Barack Obama left his 2.6 million fans on Twitter, the social networking website, bemused, disappointed and mildly irritated by admitting on Monday that he had never used the service himself. During his election campaign, Mr Obama portrayed...

Twitter's own homepage is still the most popular tool for users to update their status on Twitter. Around 46% of all updates are made directly on the site. Social media analytics and monitoring service Sysomos analyzed 500 million tweets it collected over the past 5 months and found that TweetDeck is the most popular third-party client. TweetDeck has a comfortable lead with a 8.48% share of the market, followed by Tweetie, Twitterific and...

Sean Bonner / sbdc: Some thoughts on Twitters new ReTweet feature  —  This morning I woke up to find this on my Twitter homepage:  —  I was immediately psyched.  I've been a fan of retweets for a while and one of the main reasons I've continued to use TweetDeck despite it's buggyness is how flawless it handles retweets.

For those of you who are in the Twitter “retweet” beta test, I have a word of advice: proceed cautiously. Here’s why. Currently, retweets that are executed via the Twitter web “retweet link” are visible to your followers who are using the web interface to read your tweets but are not visible to popular third party [...]
